Engineering Internship: Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Parts Database Specialist

Internship Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product lifecycle management (PLM) and contribute directly to a critical project: the creation and populating of an engineering parts database. The successful candidate will play a vital role in establishing a robust and accurate Electrical components data foundation that will support our product development, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Research, gather, and analyze engineering part data from various sources (e.g., existing CAD models, specifications, vendor documentation, legacy systems).

  • PLM System Entry: Accurately input and categorize engineering part information into our PLM system, ensuring adherence to established data standards and naming conventions.

  • Database Structuring: Assist in defining and refining the data structure, attributes, and relationships within the engineering parts database to optimize searchability and usability.

  • Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Perform thorough checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to the parts database

  • Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to understand data requirements and ensure the database meets their needs.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline data management processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of our PLM system utilization.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering (Electrotechnical or related).

  • General Electrotechnical knowledge about power and control components.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data entry and validation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data manipulation and organization.

  • Familiarity with Autodesk Autocad, Autodesk Vault, Zuken E3 is advantageous, but not required.

  • Basic understanding of general engineering components, materials, and manufacturing processes is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with PLM software is advantageous, but not required.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Fluent in communication skills in English, both written and verbal are mandatory.
